About Dell Butterfield
My name is Dell Butterfield, and I am running for West Bountiful City Council. For most of my life I have called Davis County home. I attended Bountiful High School, played football at Utah State University and married my high school sweetheart, Teresa. Together we raised our three kids in the foothills of Bountiful, but nearly 15 years ago we moved to West Bountiful and have never looked back! We were drawn to West Bountiful because of open space, charm and the people. When I was a teenager I worked at the golf course when it was only nine holes, it’s still one of my favorite places to hit a bucket of balls or play a round. I’ll never forget drinking the cold clear water from the artesian well on 1100 west when I was a kid. I am proud to call West Bountiful home.
By profession I am an accountant and worked for 33 years at Union Pacific Health Systems; 20 of those years as the CFO and 13 as the CEO. I was elected President of the National Association of Railroad Medical Executives for 13 years. In addition to my career with the Railroad, my wife and I co-founded an educational toy business, I was CEO for fourteen years before we sold.
I currently serve on the West Bountiful City Planning Commission. It is an honor to uphold land use laws and help guide smart growth within the city along with the other knowledgeable and dedicated committee members. I also sit on the West Bountiful Emergency Preparedness Advisory Committee. Through my church I have had the opportunity to serve throughout my life. I currently work with young single adults within my church and enjoy getting to know this bright generation of West Bountiful residents. I have served on the Board of trustees for the Road Home for two years, and as Board Chairman for one year. For almost 20 years it was a joy and honor to coach youth competitive soccer. I coached both my son’s and daughters’ team, including a Utah Olympic Development team.
I love being with family, especially our grandchildren. I enjoy traveling, especially to Europe, riding my mountain bike, and playing golf regularly. If I’m not doing those things, you can find me in my barn working on projects.
